Church in the Peak Buxton

“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

 Matthew 18:20

Buxton Church in the Peak has been meeting for more than 25 years, initially as a plant from Church in the Peak at Matlock, and welcomes people with backgrounds of faith and those exploring faith.

We are a bible based, Jesus following church family seeking to be faithful disciples of Jesus, to grow in our relationships with God and with each other, and to bring God's blessing to Buxton and the surrounding area. We aim to be a church that sees lives changed, by Jesus, one at a time.

As Jesus invites all of us to come to him, so we welcome everyone regardless of race, colour, religion, gender expression, age, ability or disability. We aim to be a Christian community where people from all backgrounds can come, just as we are, and feel welcome to belong.

Somewhere that we can discover and experience God’s love, forgiveness and kindness towards us, through Jesus, that we may believe and trust in Him.

A place where we can put our faith and trust in Jesus, where he can transform us by his love, through the Holy Spirit, that we may become… the people that God always intended us to be.

We want to serve our town and beyond by working alongside other churches, charities and organisations, that we might provide caring support for those in need in Buxton, the surrounding area and beyond.

We are part of the Catalyst network of churches. This means we are part of a bigger church family and receive great support from other church leaders.

We meet regularly to worship God, learn together through bible-based teaching, and share fellowship and prayer to support each other in Christian discipleship.

Sunday gatherings start with refreshments from 10:15am, then from 10.45 we usually have contemporary sung worship, a time of bible-based teaching and prayer.

We share communion regularly to remember Jesus' sacrifice, his death and resurrection which restore our relationship with God.

We regularly update our Facebook page with news of weekly and other activities.

We meet at The Source, 7 Terrace Road, close to Spring Gardens (the main shopping street in Buxton). Parking may be found on Hardwick Street, in ‘The Slopes’ car park off Terrace Road or in the Market Square (a bit further up Terrace Road). If you are able to walk a comfortable distance please consider arriving a little earlier, walking that little bit further to free up space closer to the building for those less able.

Home groups meet in people’s homes during the week. Home groups are a great place to explore faith in a relaxed environment and to enjoy friendship, mutual support and prayer for each other. If you are interested in attending a group, please get in touch for more information.

Buxton Church in the Peak statement of accessibility and inclusion

At Buxton Church in the Peak, we aim to provide an environment that promotes inclusion for all irrespective of age, race, gender, or disability. We understand however, that for those with a physical disability, additional support may be required to help them to benefit from the services we provide.

Public Parking is available in car parks throughout the town centre, many of which provide designated disabled parking bays. Whilst the Church is not able to offer congregational parking, it is possible for cars to stop at the side of the building for passengers to alight and to allow wheelchairs to be unloaded. The nearest disabled parking spaces are a few yards away in Lower Hardwick Street. Access to the Source building is level from the pavement off the A515 and the double doors open to allow a wheelchair to pass through.

Our meeting space is located on the ground floor immediately through the double doors. All seating is informally arranged and moveable so a wheelchair can be accommodated anywhere away from access points. A disabled toilet is located on the ground floor towards the back of the meeting area.

A basic amplification system is used for all spoken and sung contributions from the front to assist those with hearing impairments. Written material is projected from a screen at the front of the meeting area. PowerPoint slides use contrasting text and background and large font size to help those with visual impairments.

Gluten free bread for communion and biscuits for refreshments are provided on all occasions. These are kept separate from food containing gluten. Long life lactose free milk is available on request. Decaffeinated coffee and tea are available at each gathering.

We appreciate that we may not have covered all aspects of accessibility and inclusion but please speak to us if you have some kind of additional need and we will aim to provide for you.
